Re: Oil Pressure issue after lots of searching
I use Mobile 1 0w-40 in my engine, along with an additive literally tested in flat tappet, aircooled engines. Its called Hyperlube, and can be found at Autozone. I had a huge oil temp issue when running 20-50. Switched to this combo and temps dropped a ton, in the neighborhood of 30-40 degrees. Oil pressure is fine too.

Re: Oil Pressure issue after lots of searching
Well turns out I think it was just changing the weight of the oil. With 15/40 Rotella I now have 8-10psi hot idle like 240 degrees on the autometer. This is with a sschadek 30mm pump, full flow going back into the old relief valve port from filter, 15w40 rotella. I'm hoping the oil temps start to come down after the motor breaks in more? I've ordered an external oil cooler in hopes that the added heat from the turbo etc is whats causing the temps to go up. Do you think that switching to the 0w-40 or a different synthetic weight would help with my oil temps?

Switching to the 0-40 dropped my temps in a huge way. That was the only change i made.

How much did your oil pressure drop with the change if any?

I actually had it supplied and tested in Europe. So I dont see it being that much different to what you guys get in USAPiledriver wrote:Tony Z wrote:Rimula R4X 15W40 - 1250ppm ZDDP - I had some tested last year
That should be fine, no US EPA ruining good oil in SA.

I should point out the "zddp wars" are over, and it has been effectively replaced with better.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
