Engine Case

Post by Turbo_Manx_Maniac »

Need to help a friend who's 2275 has pulled several head studs. The case is definately not repairable at this point and will need to be replaced. Haven't bought a VW case in a long time, and I am aware VW stopped making them. Cheapest option I see is CB's AL case at ~$875. Any better options, keeping in mind a mag case would need all the machine work that the AL case already has?
I accidentally Googled my Twitter. (And I liked it)

I heard that new AS41 cases are being made again, but not by VW, but they are 6 to 8 months away.

I'd just get an aluminum case with the deck you need. Although it could possibly be slightly cheaper to have a serviceable case freshened up completely. Simpler and stronger if you go with an AL case I think.
