Can't afford the rare and extreme car of your dreams? Well just build one.

Does anyone have plans for just how the chassis is made, if you are not going to race it? Like a fun powerful fast go cart? Thanks

I don't have any plans but I do have a Formula Vee chassis (not Super Vee, this one uses a kingpin front end and swingaxle transmission). If that interests you I can get some pictures. They're quite straightforward in design.

New cars that go as fast as a supervee need homologation - reams of engineering data submitted to the SCCA to establish the design is safe. SV's also run with a bunch of similar cars in the Formula Continental class, all new FCs must be Pinto (or in the near future Zetec) powered.

SVs and FCs are really fast cars! Current Sears Point lap record for an FC is 1:35. Old air-cooled cars would run around 1:45 When NASCAR ran the long course they ran 1:38s. Track record is held by the Audi A8 LMP900, at 1:20

Google around "race cars for sale" and you should find lots of FV and SV cars for sale. FVs can be had for under $3K, good ones for $5K, and championship caliber cars for $10K.

I'd love to try my hand at a Superveee with todays technology.....

Hell, next year we are doing an E Production for SCCA... Its a 914. I have already heard it can't be done so many times that my ears are bleeding!

I scratch built a mid engined IRS T1 based sportscar that might be of interest to this thread. Use it on road, track, grass events.
