A real OG 73 thing engine shroud is a sought after part. Expect to pay good money for one. Thye are never cheap. There are lots of after market shrouds that are free of the clean air ports that sell for much less.

I'm in need of a wiper motor. I'm coming up on inspection to get plates and it's the only thing I'm down to pass. Anyone have one that works that they're looking to get rid of?

Used oil bath air cleaner: $100
It's in good condition and looks a lot like this:

If you don't have one, you'll need to get an elbow - The Thing Shop has 'em.

Used oil bath air cleaner bracket: $20
Also in good shape. It held the above air cleaner on my car for the last 8 years.

This one is about 7 years old. I sandblasted it the other day and my neighbor repaired (TIG weld) the two holes that it had. I can send pics of this one if you're interested. Also included are my old J-tubes - which are not sandblasted and are pretty cruddy, but will get you by until you pick up a new pair for $15ish.

Soon, I'll have my old tranny for sale as well.

By posting his request here, Ian was able to his arm in days for a very good price. This system works.. HotrodVW: Vince has an original 73 Thing shroud for sale on the Samba classified ads. I seriously doubt you will ever find a original factory one that is "cheap"
