Re: 1.7 L Engine
That's a 228mm flywheel. Maybe a 2.0 hidden under a set of 1.7 carbs?
So you think your project is taking forever eh? Well you've got nothing on me.....

How could you tell from just the pics??. Is the surface of the clutch area that close to the starter ring? Only way to tell what engine this is will be from the stamped code. Well you would be able to tell which case it is. Maybe a 78 stroke crank with some 96 slip in's. We can dream. Thanks Dave T

Re: 1.7 L Engine
This is what I found for the engine ID numbers.
On the case, at the base of the rectangular oil fill/breather deal it is stamped EA 070023
But the fan housing is stamped GE 045383
I can't find the EA listed anywhere but the guy I got it from says it is a 1.7 L.....
Any other method of identifying w/o taking it apart?
Thanks

The extra thick metal meat behind the starter ring, like where flywheels are lightened, and also the 228mm flywheel has 3 locating dowels in the clutch bolt surface clearly visible in the pic.dave t wrote:How could you tell from just the pics??. It could also have just been a 228mm flywheel bolted to a 1.7 motor.
Glad it sold.
