throttle cable
I have a blow thru 2110 with weber carbs, the throttle cable really returns slow. If i put springs on it pushing the petal is like pushing on a brick wall. Is there a way to reduce the friction from the cable inside the tube? Even with the throttle cable disconnected it still returns pretty slow, will this loosen up with time? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Grease the cable, easy job if a little messy

what i have with my blow-thru dells is a sticky throttle shaft that made for a hard pedal.
as a temporary measure, i went to berg linkage, which has it's own return springs, and lots more adjustment capability... you can overcome any pedal issues with berg linkage, but what you really need to do is to find out why your carbs are so hard to operate... make sure the linkage geometry is correct, for instance, and there is no binding.
adding home-made return springs to the carb itself is not the correct solution, as it will drastically increase side-loading of the throttle shaft.

im told by CB Performance that the shafts are tight because of the seals in the throttle shafts, he said they will get better but will always be tight. i was thinking of maybe some type of liner such as teflon inside the cable tube to help reduce friction. what do ya think?

I had this problem when I put in my dual 40's. I had a hex-shaft with adjustable ends. Checked out the play in the rod & found it to be too tight. Still needed to beef the return springs a bit tho.
If you have an Ace hardware store nearby, go check em out for springs. They carry all kinds of em. I found a couple that were the perfect length & had a light pull to keep my foot from getting cramped up on those long rides.
The friction inside a clean throttle tube is pretty minimal. If it's been greased alot & never cleaned,... Well, it's gonna stick. A lot of WD-40 will help that out. A light grease made specificly for cables can be found at any motorcycle shop.
