I know. Just not easy to do that.

I see a lot of people running it at a 90° bend...

The TD04L has a perfectly good wastegate on it already. You can easily incorporate it in the position you have it mounted.
Run an EBC or a MBC to control boost pressure if you want to go above 6.0 lbs boost.
The stock wastegate is 6.0 lbs so it's a great default pressure to fall back on if you use an EBC with a ground cut switch on the dash.

What's a TurboSmart run....$299.00????  ......Don't forget the plumbing costs too.........
You can easily build a MBC out of a 1/4 inch tee and a few other parts for about $20.00 and they are good to 17-22 lbs boost without boost creep.

I know, but i allready have one Image

Only the plumbing to do, plus i dont like the look of that big caniser on top of the turbo in plain sight.

Sexy engine is the keyword. Dont plan to do it twice so I want it right from the first time.

I cut all the tape appart and numbered the alloy bends.

Image

Also worked on my T-piece.
Cut the hole in the pipe. And flowed (filled) the inside

ImageImageImage

Now working on the wastegate setup.

I can take my alloy and SS to the welder on monday to get it tacked.

Then final testfiting and find spots for the sensors, wiring loom and air cleaner before the engine comes out and gets worked on. A lot!

When its over there I can work on elektronics, wiring and brakes and fuel system

Managed to make the wastegate pipework.

ImageImageImageImage

Got it coming out of the up-pipe under an angle so it flows much better than on 90°

Screamerpipe comes out next to the turbo exhaust.

What ya' think?

Cutting, naming plus numbering the joining ends of the parts is a very smart thing to do. The next smart thing was showing how it was done. Good job! :D

Yeah, got the idea on a tipsy friday with the guys while staring at it.

It cant be tacked while its on the car so i have to mark them as good as possible and hope i got it all right.

Thats why i only want it tacked, then I can take it back home and see if it still fits

I use a single alignment mark with one of those small thin- head Sharpies (I don't drink. Been around over-drinking too much... et al). I also have used the scratch method with a sharp point metal marking tool; something I use when bluing the area then scratching what I want to do at the location. The numbering was something I hadn't seen for so long I have forgotten about it.

In the bottle or out, it is a good idea and, again, even better to share.

Almost forgot; lacquer thinner will usually remove a Sharpie marks on most steel materials (unless it is very porous). A rotary wire brush will also do it plus polish most surfaces  .

Are you exiting the wastegate to atmosphere (mini exhaust) or back into the exhaust pipe ?

That's going to be a great looking setup! FWIW - Good call on getting your exhaust parts tacked first, then re-checking fit on the car before fully welding. It doesn't take much to get some misalignment, much easier to correct by removing small tack welds and re-doing. Having a small MIG handy sure makes this easier! I even had my exhaust welded in just a few sections at a time (starting from the header end) once I was satisfied the "tacked-up" fit. That would allow some corrections down-stream if necessary before final welding. Looking good what you have!
