The only concern I would really have is that you would almost have to rely on one dude for support. There is a huge MS community for support.

Maybe, but they always helped me out when i had issues.

My engine builder is also a professional tuner. He started with dragracing a 68 turbo 4bbl carbed, and later efi bug,(had a 3L + pauter engine) then started building acvw engines.

Then 3 years back he took over a tuning shop for everyday driving cars. For ecu remapping and tuning. Intake and exhaust work. But really on recent cars. How do you call a shop like that in the usa.

He also has a 4wd rolling road dyno.

He really knows what he is doing.

Last year he took courses for building ecu maps from scratch.
Really complicated stuff.

Anyway, i think i got that sorted out!

Good and bad news,

I got the 3 flanges in the mail today, looked verry good. Thick quality laser cut.

The flange for coupling the 4in1 to the turbo is okay, the turbo inlet flange also.

But the flange for turbo outlet is wrong.
The guy that made them got the drawing from google, i verified the bolt measurements and gave the okay. But there i somehow made a mistake in measuring.

The holes dont line up....

So what im gonna do, first mail the guy, and ask if he want to do it over again.

I will send him the original metal gasket and a template for marking where the 2.25inch exhaust hole has to be.

He can then make the flange off the gasket and verify everything....

Sucks to pay twice....

Can you just go to the wrecker and get the exhaust that goes off the turbo ( cut down short of course) and then just cut off the flange. That's what I did.

Yeah, Good idea but the car graveyards are hard to find here and the one that is is my region surely has no Subaru turbo cars.

Got an email back, he is okay with me sending the gasket.

I will make a cardbord template too.

Also, someone gave the advice to keep the stock wastegat shut with a little tab and bolt on the flange.
I will make the flange template so that it allready has a raised spot for the bolt to go trough and keep the wastegate shut.

I now see it as a expensive 2.0 version :-)

It's a learning curve

The flange is in the making.

Made a tab on the flange and will get it tapped for a bolt to keep the wastegate shut.

Hope to have it in a week or 2.

I thought about doing something like that with mine. I was just going to drill a hole in it and tap it so I could just run a big set screw that would physically push against the flapper.

Thats the plan!

Its stainless so i asked if he wanted to thread it.

And at 12mm its to thick for me to tap.

Good idea. I wanted to have a way to use the internal waste gate in case the Chinese external one failed. I never did do it though.

Been looking for intercoolers, 2 days of ebay searching and measuring.

Thinking of hanging the IC next to the engine, between rockercover and wheel.

I found that i can fit one in there if its got an IN and OUT on the top side of the IC.

This was one that has a 300mm X 150mm core and 80mm thick.

I can always hang a fan on it too but its in the open space between wheel and engine so it will catch a lot of wind.

What do you guys think?

Plus i have found a type of fan that fits the core.

I could fit 2 honda cbr1000 motorbike fans on it. They are 140mm in diameter. So 2 of them would suck a lot of air trough the intercooler.

Mounting brackets would be DIY.

Picked up an intercooler today, like the one posted above.
Its a used one and it has some wrinkles in the cooling fins on the outside but i will try to make it look decent. I'll straighten the worst ones and then give the outside a layer of paint to make it purdy again.

Will paint affect the cooling???

Next up is the search for cooling fans for the IC.

Had a great chat with my engine builder too last week.

We tought of a engle tcs20 cam. Low compression 8.0 -8.5 to 1

Any advice here?
