Re: Is a external oil cooler needed with a turbo set up
Hi all I will be changing the thread name to " my turbo build" in a tick but I have another question, what size oil pump are you lot running? Stock, 26mm or 30mm?
All so when I figure out how to post photos I will post you two different set ups one with the turbo up high in the engine bay and one down low could you lot give me the pros and cons of each set up and if down low I'm guessing a scavenge pump will be needed for the oil return?
Cheers

I have 3 aux coolers on my 1915 street motor, no doghouse (breather is in the way ) 90 plate cooler over trans w/fan
plumbed to a 'fined tube' then to my sidedraft intake which is usually ice cold
race 2276 only a stock Doghouse cooler.

MadMike Does the routing of oil to the plenum improve the fuel atomization as well as cool the oil?

Cool. I always wondered that but never experienced it firsthand. I was involved in a holley carbed turbo vw project in the early 90's. Even in Az the plenum used to get icy cold.
