why would a rod bearing spin? does it just suck up the oil too fast leaving the sump dry?madmike wrote:Ok,but if u spin a rod bearing ??? you will know the cause just an FYI my friend

Re: New guy, new build
I've heard that a car doing a 7000rpm burnout can drain the sump in a hurry. All of the oil ends up suspended inside the case.chriswillrise wrote:why would a rod bearing spin? does it just suck up the oil too fast leaving the sump dry?madmike wrote:Ok,but if u spin a rod bearing ??? you will know the cause just an FYI my friend

If the car is too low consider a CB drysump.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Welcome new guy!
With the power you are going to be making, you need to raise rear suspension anyways. I haven't seen how low your car sits, just judging by the tire wear and mudflap.

i would love to do a big tranny lift but I wouldnt call myself a fabricator. 1.5" is about the biggest you go for "bolt on" application after that youre chopping stuff up

Re: New guy, new build
You don't have to narrow the rear end 10" unless you want huge drag meats.
A shorter fan housing exists.
IIRC up to 4" trans raise is doable without too much hacking, but your turbo header wouldn't fit any more.
The torsion housing lift is a lot more involved.
IRS conversion with 67 T1 or T3 drums would be a much saner way to fix that.
Consider grafting in a late T3 torsion (make it bolt in like T3) and use tubular frame horns from Berrien Buggy (or whatever they go by now)

I wasn't trying to piss on anyone's parade.. nothing looks better to me than a bug sitting on its nuts!chriswillrise wrote:the car is pretty low, every bug ive had i slam the piss out of it. Might have to raise this one up
But... your fulcrum plates will be toast, spade ends of your axles will be eaten up and side gears will be cracked with that much power. You want the suspension to take some of the hit when you put the hammer down. When you're already on the bump stops (if you have any) the trans takes most of the hit.

Deep sump isn't absolutely critical, but can definitely be a lifesaver. How do you intend to use the car? Street cruise with the occasional freeway pull? Or actual passes on a drag strip? Or do you intend to make to car corner at speed?
