Re: Fitech
You can buy the aluminum bungs and have them welded in, the only trick is making up some jigs so you drill the holes aimed right.
CBs FI end castings used to cost about 1/2 what they do now, recent price jack. No idea why, part# changed and the price soared.
Someone should be doing a steady business making those from stock end castings... Hmmm...

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

The new CB end casting are also ported out for more flow. They only dropped the stock style.

But yes, an unnecessary rip off. In the mean time, Mario's doing well with the mexi stuff.

Re: Fitech
What about using an IDF Throttle Body as a sidedraft with the efi end castings?
It would look like a traditional side draft draw thru setup..

What's the alternative? Dual TB's?

Re: Fitech
Typical blow through like dual Weber-style ITBs or similar with hats.buguy wrote:What's the alternative? Dual TB's?
The Honda vrf tbs are cheap, about 38mm, and basically bolt to idf manifolds via std rubber tb mount flanges...
Would still need to adapt hats to them or such.
Still, more expense and work than just popping some injector bungs into your existing working draw through rig.
Main upside is blow thru doesn't require a carbon seal turbo.

Yeah I guess. The CB intakes aren't THAT expensive.

Re: Fitech
On a small engine it makes sense, but make sure you add up all the bits, fuel rails, iac, injectors, regulator etc.
You will want larger injectors for a boosted setup.

Works great for small engines. Ecu not included. You are literally getting the intake manifold, throttle body, and alternator stand for the price. Fuel rails, injectors, and other bits all cost more. I would get the rails from him, might want to get your own injectors though, sized for turbo use and such.

Will that TB support a larger engine? I may build a big one in the near future.

Re: Fitech
I'd be far more inclined to put a subaru 5 speed in it for less $ and much stronger.
I honestly don't know the limits on the Mexi intake, but the runners are pretty small, a hot 2L would probably be really pushing it NA, with a turbo it might be more forgiving.

I didn't know you could put a Subaru in it. I really wouldn't even need it. It will only really be used around town here in Daytona. 50 mph speed limit is Max around here. Most is 45-50 with plenty of traffic.
