Project CFC#1, turbo, back halfed and light (new name, new car page 15)

Post by bug66 »

After one "started" turbo project, this will be built.

I'm a little tired of my 200hp 2110cc IDA engine 8) So Turbo is the only way to go.

The goal must me 10sec 1/4-miles and 400+bhp :)

Longblock:

AS41 Mexico block
78,4mm DPR crank
5,5" Scat H-beam rods
thickwalled 92mm AA cylinders
JE 92mm pistons (B height)
Web 86B on 113LC cam (13,65mm lift w/ 1,4 rockers, 260degrees of duration at 0,05" lift)
1,4 Scat rockers
CB lightweight lifters
CB Miniwedge heads 42/37,5 valves, CB650 springs and titanium retainers
Raceware headstuds
CR around 8,1-1

Auxiliary:

VWSpeedshop SP1 manifolds 52mm bore
VWSpeedshop triggerkit
A1 look a like header, T3 flange
Custom turbo from Tor Øyvind Skinne
2,5-3" intake tubing
As large as I can fit water IC

MAXX ECU
E85

This thread will probably not get updated as much until I'll start to get parts coming in, but if you have any comments or questions, feel free to shout! :)

If we say 130hp NA (turbo just removed)

14,5PSI ~ 260hp
29PSI ~ 390hp

So more than 30 :)

( But I guess 2 bars / 29PSI should be sufficient. )

Right side of the pond yes :D

30psi is not all that much. I'll order 2 sets of cylinders, so I can test if they can handle up to 45PSI

Hesd studs may give ya some trouble at those pressures:Last time I had my bug at the track,I had a waste gate failure resulting in a 40 plus psi situation.it BROKE 4 lower 8mm chrome moly head studs, lifted the 3/4 head & made a REAL mess of the track.

What head studs was that? Raceware should be plenty strong..

But everything can break..

We see 30+PSI all the time here in Europe :)

I'm not that worried about headstuds really.

Hopefully the cylinders and heads will cope with the pressure.

I'll have boost cut with the ecu, so you could cut ignition over let's say 2,5bars/37psi

Parts on the way from the states via boat.

Need to sort out some bearings for the mains and the rods.

Clevite on the rods and Silverline steel backed I think.

Next up is sorting the case out.
