Yes. I had to cut the fire wall. Will build a aluminium box. The cooler will be mounted on a shelf welded to the cage.

Got the the ICs welded Wednesday. Kinda heavy, but almost 4 times the intercooler-core volume than before. Will get my IATs way down. And flow better and more also! :D

what were your IAT temps before with the smaller cooler? did you run a heat exchanger or just the large tank? I am planning nearly the same charge pipe system for mine. Thanks

Climbing and reaching 86C=186F at 1/4 mile. Just 5 gallon tank upfront with ice.

My turbo is too small, and produces alot of heat at 32psi..

Actually, its just the 32 psi boost pressure that produces the high IAT temps.
With a bigger turbo and 32 psi you will have exactly the same IAT, I garantee it :-)

With an ambient inlet temp of 100 Degrees and then 32 lbs boost and no intercooler your air temps would be 316 degrees.
If you are seeing 186 at the end of the 1/4 mile you still have a pretty good cooling system. That would mean your intercooler is running at 60 percent efficiency which while not ideal is only about 10 percent under the average intercooler.
Many are at about 70 percent.

Good thing I’m quadrupling the IC core size

Thanks for the input! I might check air temp pre-turbo sometime as well!

I need to build a intake to the turbo so it doesn’t suck hot air from under the valance..

I need to get a better sensor pre turbo to actually see whats happening. I have a sensor on both sides of my intercooler. There is definitely a delta, but niether sensor is an open element type, so they respond really slow.

Awesome thank you, I'm going to give that setup a try, i won't be running nearly as much boost as that. That is an impressive amount of boost, maybe i will see those umbers one day. Thanks again. I believe I'm going to add a heat exchanger in hopes to be able to drive it on the street. i am shooting for 12-18 psi. But like everyone else.... i like to turn it up.

Well. You always have to improve your goals right? So I want to go 9s. The chassis should take it pretty easy and the car is caged to 8,50. So I need to make some tire improvements, get the new gearbox (the last one broke in two after going 10,407 at SCC2017) and do some engine upgrades.

I cracked some cylinders last season (Fixed)
Exploded the gearbox (new ordered)
Building a new intake/intercooler setup (on the way)
New 2200cc injectors (bought)
Fit bigger tires 26x9x15 Hoosier DOT (hope they fit)
Will probably need to step up to 2x044 pumps (have an extra one)

This should not happen I think?

A bit tired of this happening. Figured out I had way too weak valve springs, so upgraded big time!

What a beautiful pair of gussets!

Intercooler core volume is around 4 times bigger then what I had. And way better air distribution between cylinders.

Well. 40 year old mag case did not hold up.. new box has all the bells and whistles. All.

It’s a Paul Guard diff. Going spool in the next. Fewer parts to mangle..
