I also managed to fit the type 1
Walter,

I like that type 1 is becoming more common used words in this thread, I knew you would see sense in the end :D

Looks good mate 8)

cheers Richie
That's likely the last time it will be said

I cruised with Richie for 20 miles behind his cab. 3 weeks later it ran a sub 9 second pass in the 1/4 mile.

Granted, it hasn't cruised on the autobahn at 135mph, or driven hundreds of miles from home to track events and back again. But still, to each his own.

Both Richie and Wally have proven that with a little outside of the box thinking, big results can come, no matter the platform.

Piledriver its just some good natured banter between Walter and me  We just have a different approach to making old aircooled VWs faster

This is thread on the engine I will use at drag week, you can skip 1st few pages as I built engine once, had an offer on it so sold it, then ended with it back again and decided to upgrade some stuff and make it more durable

Nicely spoken Chip!

BTW It is sooo cool though what Richie has done to really want to participate in Drag week and saw his efforts rewarded with an entry confirmation after it was sold out in 6 (!) minutes.
I am a big fan of drag week. Totally awesome!

Put some insulation band at some of the critical area's close to the case or heads:

PS The engine started today for the first time! Again a major step. Needs some tuning, but it runs and revved once like a motorbike which made all the efforts the past 5 years worthwhile 8)
