Welcome Torgeir. Congrats on the purchase. I think I can say without reservation that EVERYONE on this forum is jealous of you! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with the car. Learning to drive it will be a hoot. :)

Wow! Just read the news now and I was shocked for a very short moment, untill I remebered your 912 I got a sneak peak at myself last year ;-)
Two project cars usually is less fun then being to do one properly, so I fully understand.

As a result, I now need to offer my crewing/mapping services to Torgeir haha!

Thank you guys!!
Between two small kids and a busy job I will try to attend all the street legal an drag events I possibly can next season. With the rest of the DKL guys aways ready for a race, and Kalle as support I have great expectations.

Walter: There will always be a free chair and a computer next to the car for you!!
PS: will ad a relay to the waterpump so hopefully no more wasted time on anoying electrical gremlins :D

Does the cars best ET follow he car, or car+driver? :D

I've got to shave 0.21 seconds of my best time to beat this car! You need to get your game on Torgeir! SCC is just some months away ;)

It will be weird not having the blue car in the garage, but I know the car is in good hands..

First to get a 9-sec time slip Torgeir? :D :D

Ahh I am so happy that Torgeir bought Kalles really really cool car. We seem to keep cars and engines in the DKL family ;-)
Looking forward to following your journey and continued development of this this car Torgeir.
Looking through the pages here I realized I stopped reading this thread way too long ago. That was obviusly a mistake. This must be one of the better sources for good information I have read(started to read at least).

I think I literally need cam and rod bearings for mine now. I'd like to say I'll get to it this winter, but, the big motor needs servicing, part of which is a $$$$ clutch package, that is tuned to the power and characteristics of the engine its connected to. Don't have the cash to do it twice, might have to build the mouse for the other car...

Well.... I have dug out the old (rejected) case on which I build my first 1200Turbo engine for the (german) 1200 Challenge :)
Since then the damaged 64mm 1200 crank has been given a polish on the scratched nr 1 main bearing and deemd 'ok-ish' again

I even bought a very small turbo for it, so step by step, I will try and resurrect this project and if there is interest, keep you updated

Always interested in your stuff Wally!!!
Post away!!!

Posting anything about more than 4500 rpm on a stock crank in theSamba is an exercise in futility and wasted breath......

It is kinda fun to stir the pot a bit though.......

Ok, but maybe not in -now- Torgeir's topic?

(BTW I have a dyno sheet of 160 boosted hp at 1,3 bar and 6000 RPM on a stock 1200 crank! all on the 1200cc engine :-))
