250HP+ 1600DP Mouse Motor

Post by MarioVelotta »

What will I need to do :) This has been pushing my buttons as I know it should be well within reason to do. Opinions on a good setup please.

EDIT: I changed the HP goal again, I think 250 will be a good goal for me now.

If it was me I would

build it high rpm, and large spool.. :P

make the rotating mass light as possible (but all forged)

then run race gas and boost till it blows?

Then build another one just like it but run it 500 rpm less...

oh wait that would probably output alot more than 150 hp... :P

If U posted it FI forum, then you need some turbo ;)

For how long U would like to boost? I mean that with totally stock engine you can use your 150hp on drag strip when U let it cool down after each run.
For highway use you need better pistons and barrels or really good intercooler and better engine cooling.

My bug lives few times 400m eaven without any intercooling and 30 PSI with 15PSI I couldn´t broke it eaven with few days. But with when U can hold the IAT low you then eaven the 200Hp is not the limit for stock engine.

I've got a thick walled 1679cc in the works for my Type 3 and I'm using MO Turbo Manx's 1600 single port recipe as my inspiration.

1600 single port turbo
154HP and 180TQ AND STILL CLIMBING when the turbo thrust bearing let go.

I'll be using a counterweighted crank, Bugpack 4061-10 cam with high lift rockers, and a 1 3/8" header. The stock f.i. runners and throttle body will be utilized with after market ECU.

The basic recipe is right here, you can tweak it to put your own stank on it.

I changed my post to make this a little harder of a goal. What would need to be done for 200HP out of a 1600 :)

depends on you. turbo with --> higher boost or higher rpm, or very good heads. i would use the boost option because of you can pull it easy down and drive the engine with lower power. in a good turbo setup you will have way more torque than in both other options.
i am currently on the same way. 1300cc or 1600cc 200 hp. i will decide it during the next week because i will drive again this year. :(

I for my 1603cc (86x69)turbo engine , I want to go to high rpm for that I can not decide which ENGLE CAM to buy. I thought and looked very thinking and looking around a lot and came to some of these (Web 86c , Egle FK46 , FK89) Aided by a T3 turbo and Weber 40dcoe. Head with valves 40x36.will soon decide on cam and start collecting the other parts.
I think with T3 and 40 Weber with some of these cam that will certainly take out more than 200hp

I think that it would be better with EFI.
Loose the carb and dizzy ...install Megasquirt and wideband controller. You can mod eaven a cheapest MS for that. (MS1 ver 2.2 ....just make a VR sensor input and 2 spark outputs and have fun) Whatever mixture and angle where ever you want. (Eaven easiest way is MS1 ver 2.2 + EDIS)

Next step would be cooling the air. Deam big intercooler for backwing or some another system with ICE.

When you don´t like to take it to parts oftenly I would look for another pistons. They don´t have to be forged ones but IMO stock ones are useable when you can remember that you don´t boost all the time and let it cool down.

Cam, headporting, bigvalve heads, higher rpm are not must have but they help to get 200hp with less boost and it´s good for your engine.

MS2.2 is not expensive problem is how to tune :?: (fine tune) and which nozzles to use :?
For this purpose I use 40dcoe and because I have already remains that jets would be used.

Control is the key to making big power on a turbo motor, EFI/ign>carb/dizzy. going with a computer controlled setup also allows you to safely run more compression too, which means MOAR POWA!
