Lets start a STF 1600 turbo showdown Lets get together and make a basic rule set, engine perameters and such along with a time frame to let everyone compete. I think that would be cool as hell!!

Re: 200HP 1600dp
I reat thouse topics threw and its awsome....90% like my tests withs stock 1600
similar lines with my stuff
*MS
*Stock gearbox
*~1600
* 30 PSI of boost
* grinded stock camshaft
* few broken stock pistons
And insane feeling when driving
When boost came with 3rd gear it started pulling left-right-left-righ because of open diff....until the diff was broken. I made a quick ride for my friend he wanted out of the car before I pulled the 4th I would say 200+ from wheels with my ass dyno.

Re: 200HP 1600dp
Interesting thread. Please keep those cheap`o, small engine projects coming.
With regards to the yellow car with the 1641ccm turbo/e85 engine. He did some changes to the engine earlier this season when he changed the heads to 044 and changed the cam to a FK87 on 112 lobes. Result: less power. He changed back to the FK89 and he should have everything ready for the coming race mid September. He has also been fighting clutch issues this season and I do believe he changed it back to a black magic.
The air/air intercooler he is using is from a old Saab 900 and its placed next to the gearbox on the passenger side. The Holset HX35 is on the other side of the gearbox. He is using a Autronic ECU to control everything and the E85 is supplied by Bosch 1600 injectors.
Its one of my favourite cars and I found it so inspirational that I have decided to build 1 or 2 1641ccm engine(s) this winter. One with a original crank / mild cam / 044 heads and one with a Berg 69 crank / 044 heads and a wild cam. Both with a original flywheel, full flow etc etc. I will use the existing turbo system (exhaust, turbo, throttle body, charge pipe) and E85 fuel system that I use on my current 2332 and keep rising the boost until something let go. 300+ hp should be possible without any big problems. I will keep you updated.

This could be way sweet!MarioVelotta wrote:Lets start a STF 1600 turbo showdown Lets get together and make a basic rule set, engine perameters and such along with a time frame to let everyone compete. I think that would be cool as hell!!
Rules?
69mm crank, you decide how long you want it to survive(counterweighted, wedgemated, 8 doweled, etc...)
no boring of the case, but fit whatever piston set you dare into the stock opening, decking the case is fine.
Stock style head, no cosworth style port(CE/SF), any spring setup/valve combo okay
Any cam/rocker combo
Any turbo
Any management(or lack thereof for you carb guys)
Full flow oiling is fine
Basically a stroke/bore limited, unlimited class.
Must be dynoed in a vehicle.
Christmas
Eh?

Re: 200HP 1600dp
I'm in but can't promise that I will have it ready til Christmas. I would like to add one more thing to your list: TAS - total amount spent.
And should the STF 1600 turbo showdown have it's on thread in here where we keep everyone up to date with build pictures etc
Best rgs

Re: 200HP 1600dp
Total amount would be tough for me...LOL! I already have everything but the turbo, and maybe the heads...so to build THIS motor, it would cost me about $400-900Kalle wrote:

This motor will literally slip in place of the 2276 installed in the bug right now. It would use the same intake(including the 1000cc injectors) and exhaust fuel and oiling systems that I already have, just a new turbo, and new tune
But i do understand that limits are a good thing and probably needed.

Re: 200HP 1600dp
haha. i am in. is it a maximum hp challenge? no i definitly will not play in this class. but if everybody is on a different dyno than there could be 20% difference in hp numbert and both engines could have the same hp if the one dyno sprays down and the other up.
if it is an under the curve challenge i will try my luck
engine start hopefully this week.
what will be in a totally amount spend? just the engine and turbocharger or everything that also adds power like intercooler, efi+ carbs. that is also totally different in every country.

Re: 200HP 1600dp
TAS is not to limit anything but the cheaper the better. Same situation here, have everything except the heads and some little things

Are Fk98 is its 108 or 112 lobes I wonder
If you noticed I'm already determined to have a 1600 turbo engine dilemma FK89 -108 lobes or Web 86c - 112 lobes with 40x36 head , T3 аnd weber 40 dcoe to reach 200-250Hp.
And there are KKK K28 turbo but I think it's great for 1600cc You decide

I won't be taking part. It's taken long enough to get my 1776 together. But, I will be watching this thread with great interest! I'm still shocked at the achievements already posted on those earlier links. Kinda makes my 200HP goal a bit lame.
Good luck everyone.
Good luck everyone.

Re: 200HP 1600dp
My date may have just been pushed up a lot...Put on my new flywheel today on the "big motor" and one of the dowel pins is just a little bit off. Screwed up the hole on the flywheel. I'll probably be tearing the motor completely down and giving the manufacturer an opportunity to right their error. I have a race date on the 30th. Don't really wanna run the new 63 w/40hp. Gotta 1641 that is in need of a little TLC and a big turbo...maybe that will find its way into the bug before months end...time will tell
