How driveable is a drawthru on the street?
well took the buggy for a spin today (about a 40 mile trip)...temp outside at a pleasent 80 degrees, and man I could have drove all day long, cylinder head temp 280 and would run like a 40 hp around town and SCAT like a RAT on the freeway....how much more driveable can you get than that....and fuel mileage is a lot better too...GO GO SU !

Old post
can be fairly frustrating,(especially with two different engines a 1915 & 2276. 45 doce) but once "tuned/jetted" your good to go
No they don't run like your wife's mini Van,,,, but close ,,,,and a whole lot quicker

Not saying it won't work, but that turbo sounds kinda big for a 1641. If you can find something a little smaller, it'll spool up quicker and give more midrange and less lag.Scotty C wrote:I drive my beetle every day and alot on week ends. Can I drive it for an hour or so?
The guys I work with say it will not be very responsive when it isn't under boost.
I still plan on trying it but wonder if I should only run it on a drag only car?
I have a t3 chrysler turbo
1641 /ported stock heads
390 holley
I plan on running a deltagate and only 7psi.
I was just wondering ?

I have a 1679cc. Thick wall 88's and revmaster 40x35.5 heads. Rajay turbo and a small ultra carb like for a Harley. 110% drivable as I drive it nearly every day. 15psi. 181 to the wheels. Its a pain to start after sitting all night but once its fired up, it doesn't idle any different than an efi car. It is just a little lazy on revs but for what it is, I cant complain a bit.

Love to see some pics. Would I be right in thinking the small carb helps with responsiveness?

That's some impressive hp from 15 lbs.DPsuper wrote:I have a 1679cc. Thick wall 88's and revmaster 40x35.5 heads. I'm trying to do the math since I also have a 1679 and am running 20-22 lbs boost with 40X37.5mm DRD heads and a Subaru WRX turbo.
That would mean your engine N/A has to be putting out at minimum 90 plus hp and you would have 100% or better volumetric efficiency to get 181 hp....at the wheels. That would be almost 210 flywheel hp.
You must be turning it to 6300 rpm or more.
I would love to see the pics or video too.

If I can figure out how to post the pics I will for sure. If I remember correctly the peak horsepower was like at around 7k. Spraying water/meth also

My draw through set with zero boost (gate wide open) still drives around just fine.

up-date, my 4 barrel demon 750 drive better on the 2276 ,(28mpg cruising NO air filter 55-65mph) was a little big for the 1915cc but I'

Nice! And yes my T3 is too big for my 1600. It works but it's not ideal.

I would go full tilt if I built something! 2387 or something like that.
