Re: Turbo Gallery
So is this beast rolling yet?! I'm seriously wanting to do a hide away turbo setup on my 56 with the 1915 I have. I've been doing a lot of reading but I noticed that most guys aren't doing hide away blow through setups. This one looks like he'll still be able to run a deck lid.blue thunder wrote:Getting close....

There are a few of us doing things the hard way. Just gotta know where to look I guess. Check out my build for an under the lid hideaway setup.56bugdan wrote: So is this beast rolling yet?! Re: Turbo Gallery
^ I see you went with the 'y' rather than the 't' intake. I think I read somewhere that due to the airflow you might lean out one side and the 't' helps disturb the flow. Just an idea .............love it thought.

Here's mine...
Changing the spark plugs; piece of cake.
In the process of modding the intake tubes so I can put the lid on with slight cuts on the side.

Re: Turbo Gallery
Howie,
Thanks, i installed the turbo in May then decided to put the intercooler on with the lid slightly opened from the top with brackets I made of aluminum. I just run 13 psi of boost with stock rods and p&p heads, maybe it was an overkill to install the cooler but I put it on anyway.

Re: Turbo Gallery
I think the intercooler was a good idea. With my Ghia, I don't run an intercooler because I don't run a decklid. But if I decide to run more boost, I may decide to run one. So far, it scares me as is.

The setup was indeed made so the decklid could still be closed and the 3 inch exhaust would not be visible (all for the sleeper-look )
And a few days ago, I was able to try to start the engine for the first time. The turbo is not mounted at this point, as the alu nikasil cilinders need mineral oil for the run in period, and I don't want mineral oil through my turbo.

Re: Turbo Gallery
Blue Thunder, that engine looks pretty slick! Loving the fake stock tailpipes (for the blow-off valve?). Any updates on it with the turbo?
I ask because I've been planning a FI/turbo build for down the road (spare cash and all that). I've landed on using a very similar intake except with a third plenum where your Y-pipe is. My theory is a Ford GT-40-style plenum to ensure equal flow to both banks then do the same on either bank for flow to the cylinders.
