Re: Amr500 on 1641cc ! 119hp -- 174Nm
I have an aluminium v-belt pulley that fits the amr that i got from keimotorsport. I can send it to you if you can use it to make a hub for a new pulley.
Which diameter pulley will you try next?

I would like to try a 55mm pulley. That seems to give a lot of boost.
No need to send one, thanks tough, will be easier to have one made from scratch, i think....
Replaced two of the four hose clamps at the intake. Got the bolted ones now.

Been working on a cover for the engine lid.
Only thing that needs to be done is sew a zipper in

hope it helps to keep the heat in the engine bay a little so my manifold doesn't freezes all the time.
working on some pulley's too...

Took it out for a spin, hauled ass on a bwm. Went 1st till 130kmh. Haha. Wasnt a special beamer though. But did made me smile.
The engine lid cover works verry good. Intake doesnt freez anymore. And i think it looks killer.
Thanks to my 92year old grandmother for sewing it together!
Finaly ended up at my engine guru's shop. Talked a bid about the car and how to be able to drive it under low load. (Read: cruizin') its pretty rich when under 3500 rpm. That's the dissadvantage with carbed....
I get 0.64 0.65 lambda when just calm cruizin under 3500 rpm. But when i floor it no hessitation and torque like a big diesel!
When i floor it and drive agressive i get lambda 0.75 0.85 and when i go from zero sometimes 0.95 1.0 but thats only for 1 second and then always drops back to richer Values
And anything above 3500 rpm the belt starts yellin and squeecking like crazy.
Wich brings us to todays order, a new belt pulley. 5 rib and 60mm.
Should turn the Supercharger at 15000 while engine at 5400 rev limiter.
Guess thats a safe limit for not blowing anything up.
Oh, and he wrote down the needle setup. Will post on that later this weekend
What do ya'll think?

I think you need an extra idler pulley to help tension the belt. You've only got one right?

Re: Amr500 on 1641cc ! 119hp -- 174Nm
Nice to hear that the test drive on the road went well:)
Noise from the belt is most likely belt slip. If you still route the belt like one of the pictures in page 6, i bet it is the alternator/fan pulley slipping on the belt. Looks like you have less than 30 degrees of weap on the pulley. A good was to find out which pulley is slipping is to drive and get some noise going from the belt, then stop and check the temperature of the pulley. The pulley that is slipping will be very hot!
If you have an ir gun, measire the temp of the supercharger housing after a hard run, would be onteresting to see what temps you are getting.

This is going to be hard to test, but I suspect it might be the fan pulley that's slipping, rather than the supercharger pulley. Both the crank and the supercharger pulleys have up to 180degs of wrap, but the fan pulley has much less.

Re: Amr500 on 1641cc ! 119hp -- 174Nm
hey,
I do think that it's the supercharger pulley that's slipping because the profile of the pulley doesn't really match the profile of the belt.
also the pulley isn't lined out perfectly, its off an half mm.
we will shim it out perfect when we get the custom pulley.
and the temperature of the supercharger is very good. after all the hard dyno runs and driving on the street it only gets hand warm. so I think 50°?
I do have a temp gun so I will take the measurements this weekend!

Re: Amr500 on 1641cc ! 119hp -- 174Nm
Came to the conclusion that it acctually was the dynamo pulley that did the slipping..
That pulley was much warmer than the blower.
Got the custom 5rib pulley for the blower on order. Hope to get it in a week or 2.
The whole mount i made will need some reinforcing. Got a little leak trough my fuel pump mount. Thats where the whole mount is bolted to.
Gonna try to connect the blower to the dynamo twith somekind of bracket. To take some flex out of my mount.
Also, with the 5rib belt i have much more choise of belts, will try to run it from crank up to blower down to idler and back up to dynamo and then back down to crank. Hope that helps to get rid of the belt slipping.
So once the little bugs are fixed its time to drive drive drive!

Hello,
nice project...
Ruben, where are you from in Belgium?
I just near Calais / duinkerque France... Brainstorming now with an AMR500 project too.
Best regards,
Greg.

Bonjour, je m'habite en merendree, 10km de gent. Oost vlaanderen.
The project is verry succesfull on my engine.
Now waiting on the custom made pulley to get the amr blowing some more air in the engine and the mount needs some reinforcing.
If you got questions, feel free to ask here. Im not an expert but i know pretty much about them blowers now!

Nice,
yes, many questions...!
1/ about ignition, advance, 010 modified, Treuhaft maybe...? What is the right way to avoid pre-ignition?
2/ pulleys... Timing belt is maybe the best way to avoid slipping, but cant find cheap kit with crank big diameter. So poly-V Belt maybe, with serpentin as yours?
3/ will use single carb, maybe FCR41... but not sure.
the engine will be a 30PS for a 1953 early Oval.
what about EDIS Ignition, did you think about it?
Thx,
Greg.

Like this one but horizontal position:

For Pulleys, Big one and short for AMR500
