Did some sporty driving today, i just filled her up and some fuel was coming out of the vent tube.
It was dripping like 10-20 drops

Any solutions to that?

Yess, on the top of the tank there is a nipple where a fuel line connects. Its laying on top of the tank in a circle, then its coming trough the body in the left wheel arch.

There are formed 90° fuel line fittings you buy then cut and fit the insert in place. You want the overflow line to be as short as possible plus not to be able to collect raw fuel or vapors... can be very dangerous.

The line should be short enough to go straight down and not be able to collect fuel or fumes.

Dont think i understand what you mean by that 90°.

So that long fuel line is no good?

fuel line elbow.jpg
This is an example of a fuel line elbow. They come in different sizes and shapes.

Personally I am not a big fan of running the fuel line through the pan/tunnel like VW does as the hard line can eventually wear out and leak putting fumes in the car. Room and to some extent balance I think was why Dr. Porsche did what they did.

Like you I have a glass buggy (actually two of them) and they are not the quickest things to get in and out of mainly because of no doors but the shortened wheel base makes things tighter also. There were some designs with doors but the openings were small and not of the best design use. Add to that the seating is usually lower so you sit within the body confines makes it a bit more awkward to propel yourself out in an emergency.

With my blue buggy I had problems with the fuel tank up front leaking if the nose of the buggy was sitting lower than level when the tank was full (stock VW front inlet style) so I put an AL tank on the package tray (that is not really a seat for safety reasons) and dropped the fuel like straight down and out of the body. It is still not a good idea but it was done for lack of room in the rear of the buggy.

The fumes went away as the tank emptied. Guess I will have to reconfiguere the tank venting when the hood is off again maybe this winter for the efi rebuild.

Took a drive today and found a little mx parcours. With steep and narrow ridges.
Got my 7yr old nephew with me and we drove there for 10min. Mostly in first gear because I didnt want to scratch the body or bottom out with my exhaust.... (got to keep them safe so i can sell them after the efi-conversion)

But then after i left it ran like crap. Anything above 2000 rpm was bogging and backfire-ing.

So i drove it home slowly and started cleaning the carbs....

Guess I'll better keep it on the asphalt.

But keep in mind that I only have some velocity stack covers in mesh.
So kinda easy to get the jets clogged.

Left side is done, I kept the right one for tonight...

I also got a JBL charge 3 Bluetooth speaker for fathersday.
Made a mount on the shiftercoupler plate.
It plays verry well!!!

Not much update on the cb order. Last week i emailed them and they said there were 4 other more orders in front of me.

No further info on shipping date.

It kinda sucks.... 🤬
Tought that for that money spent i would have been updated more...

Greetings!

"Guess I'll better keep it on the asphalt."

 (snort) It do get dusty and dirty off-road. Remember that a glass body toy has a lot of nooks and crannies that a rail doesn't have which cause swirls in the air collecting at least some dust and dirt then distribute it around when going off-road. Bajas are similar but they don't seem to be quite as bad about it.

Even when you think you are prepared there are the "@&$#" ( ) moments.

I cleaned the second carb and gave it a little testdrive.

It even runs better than before i went offroad so i guess it was time for a good clean.

Made 2 hard pulls from standstill and then engine was shaking a lot less than before i put the gearbox brace on it.
It spun the wheels going into second gear a little.

I can only imagine what it will do with the turbo.

Guess i never wanted it to be winter soooooo much

Hi all!

Had nothing to do this afternoon so i mocked up the water methanol injection setup i had bought last year.

Image

It worked perfectly and i can adjust the pressure switch from 5psi or lower till 20psi and higher.
Adjusts by a hex setscrew.

I gave it a 1 minute run and the nozzle gave out 200cc cive or take.

Will that be enough or to much spray?

Maybe Clonebug can point me in the right direction?

You need 100 lbs. pressure minimum to make it work.
You need to overcome the boost pressure just like your fuel pump.
My pump is turned up to 120 lbs. and it works pretty good so far but I'm tempted to upgrade to the "Devil's Own" 300 lb. pressure pump with internal bypass for steady water flow.
My pump pulses on and off........
Some day........

Dont know if im following here,

The pump i have is going on and off too. Probably just like yours.

But how do i know if the pump is 100psi plus?

And how does that matter?

It sprays a verry fine mist.

And 200cc per minute.

Do you mean the boost pressure inside the manifold could be too high for the pressure at wich the water omes out of the nozzle?

And what nozzle do you have? And set at what pressures of boost?
