STF GTG Eastern Utah Adventure 10-3-17 through 10-8-17

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

I think that was just a place for us to leave trailers.

Price is just to park trucks and trailers.
560 is not going to make it. It was on track to be completed in time until last Saturday. I was working on it making a bracket and the grinder i was using kicked back and hit my left hand causing a very serious cut. Fortunately didnt hit any tendons but you could see them. Because of that i have been unable to work on the car until next week sometime. So Im riding with Elko Ed again.

That sucks to hear. Joe in SoCal did something very similar, kinda weird to have two baja owners tear their hand up like that. I'll have to be extra careful with the grinder this weekend.

I’m sure I can find a place to camp the night before departure. Then we can leave our tow rigs and trailers.

Car is done! Finally . It is dialed in and feeling better than ever before.

My plan is to travel light, drive hard, then return with the Baja feeling as good as when I left.

I am almost ready I think. I have worked on many things since Knolls and am feeling pretty good about the way it has gone. Testing tomorrow

We had a great turnout.

And we went places.

Removed an engine on the trail.

And saw some cool stuff.

Thanks to all that participated. We have become a well oiled adventure machine. Two broken CV joints, electrical issues, removal of an engine, and other minor stuff all fixed. All vehicles finished.

Until next year, my friends.

I will post a vehicle status report in my build page someday soon.

Great trip again Tim and we do have a awesome group. I will be making a few changes to my axle CV setup for sure and will be looking at all my old welds from the past but so happy to have been able to work past my problems.

A truly awesome time with some of the best people I know :D

And thanks to Kyle for organizing it, and Carl, Dusty, and Shawn for adding local knowledge. We saw some pretty neat off the chart things and got to get intimate with some pretty cool geology and historical artifacts. I really liked the cave dwellings. They added significant perspective when traveling through the harsh and barren lands.

I forgot about the cage, Ed. Probably because I have not seen a picture of it. :). Do you have one?
