Hey guys new to the forum.
I'm wondering if you all know if the front fire wall for a class five car can be fabricated or if it has to be the stock one. I found a great deal on a body but it has the front fire wall cut out.
Thanks
Jeff

what race organization are you planning on participating in?
Dusty will know the answer but my guess is it won't matter, years ago yes.

Re: Class 5 1600 front firewall
I don't have a current SCORE rulebook but the last thing I read on the subject was "Sheet metal front and rear firewalls are required and attached to the roll cage." ....doesn't even specify material or gauge. Worst-case I'm sure it'd be acceptable to replace with stock panels, but I doubt that'll be necessary.
I'd imagine they're a little stricter on a Class 5/1600 than on a Class 5 Unlimited but I still wouldn't let that stop me from picking up the body if it's a good deal and a Standard...no Supers allowed in 5/1600 IIRC.

If it is a 5/1600 it has to be stock firewall. Also depends in what organization you are planning to race. SNORE,MORE,SCORE will require it to be stock You will pass tech more than likely at these organizations with a fabricated firewall but if you do well you will be protested by your competitors. Other, smaller organizations won't care about your firewall.

Richard (Jussumguy) and Marc are right. For 5-1600, it MUST BE the factory box. And it must still be part of the body structure, not separated and attached to the cage. Keep in mind that the class is a production-based class. Any modification that is not specifically listed in the rule book as being allowed, is automatically NOT allowed. You can repair the box, adding one in that is cut from another body. But it must be installed as if a body shop would do it repairing a stock Bug. The rear firewall and package shelf must also be there still.
