Here We Go: DD Build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

I've been watching you on this build for a month or so now, it seems like you're attending to a lot of the same details I did with my Desert Dynamics car

Your welds are looking a whole lot better, your getting there.

Thanks, but a long way to go. Granted this weld washer on the lower bulkhead was out of position, and pretty cramped, but, well, yea..

From this point forward I would like to be called "Master Fitter." Good thing I'm not good at baiting hooks.

1.75" lower tube, inner sleeved with 1.5" and outer sleeved at the ends with 2".

Thanks Leather. I went back and made some adjustments to the prior sleeves. A bit OCD but much happier. Finished up the driver's rear chassis sleeve tonight. Front BPs finally arrived tonight as well.

Noice. Rather complicated way to make a solid metal bar though. ;)

Maybe the name "Tube-y" is more appropriate! A lot of fitting has gone on there to be followed by a lot of melting and filling. Very impressed! 8) Any plug welding to be done?

Thanks. No plug welding. Bungs have 3-4 rosette welds each (main tube and main tube extensions/inner sleeves). There's so much length for welds for the outer sleeves that I can't see a reason for rosettes for those.

Nothing to report today. After working out last night, I was just too spent to mess with the a-arms. I did, however, order my rear sneakers (BFG KM2 33x12.50). For what it's worth, 4 Wheel Parts has a pretty darn good deal on them right now ($390 for the pair) and free shipping. So, there you go.
