CV Compound Angles

I set up the rear of my buggy and found that I didnt take into account the issue of compound angles. With 5x5 arms, I had some serious angles going on and causing the CV's to bind. Now that I am moving the tranny back, how far back should I go? Would the best be be 5" back so the axles dont have any angle? What is the rule for this?
