Right here on my desk I have the 87/88 SCORE rulebook. I'll look up the wheelbase.

Re: Shortie's New Baja Project
87/88 SCORE Rulebook, page 42,
"CR41 Floorboards"
"Must retain an original VW floorpan. "
"CR47 Chassis and Body Components"
"Must retain an original VW floorpan, main steel body and steel doors. ..."
Page 43, still CR47
"...
Wheelbase may be altered to a maximum of 105" as measured from wheel center line to centerline front to rear on both sides, not to exceed a maximum total of 211" combined.
..." (sic.)
So at the time Frisk claims to have built this car, the rules still required the VW pan which this car does not have, but it does have a stock torsion housing. Perhaps the floor was cut out later and replaced with tubing. 105" WAS allowed then.

Re: Shortie's New Baja Project
This car needs an update!!!!
Well we just hauled it off to MD Motorsports on Tuesday evening to get the front end pushed out 5". Don offered Shortie twice what he paid for it, but Shortie wouldn't sell.
MD just got back from the NORRA 1000 where they took third in class in Dustins 4 seat pre-runner. MD is looking for a true NORRA car just like this one to race next year.
The front end work should be done in the next couple of weeks, then Shortie will have lots of work to do.

Are you still looking for A pillars?
Are you just looking for the the front door hinge area?
Are you just looking for the the front door hinge area?

Re: Shortie's New Baja Project
Yes, Like Shortie said, we still need the lower A-pillars, the hinge area and about 3 to 4 inches forward of the pinch seam and from the windshield cowl seam down to the rocker panel, so that we will have some where to attach the sides of the one piece front end to.1966bajabug wrote:yea the A pillars on the car are rotted out beyond repair so were looking for some still, had no luck so far.CentralWAbaja wrote:Are you still looking for A pillars?

Are you guys planning on having the doors open still? If so, you planning on having them hinge off of the cage somehow? Similar to what I have done?BAJA-IT wrote:Yes, Like Shortie said, we still need the lower A-pillars, the hinge area and about 3 to 4 inches forward of the pinch seam and from the windshield cowl seam down to the rocker panel, so that we will have some where to attach the sides of the one piece front end to.1966bajabug wrote:yea the A pillars on the car are rotted out beyond repair so were looking for some still, had no luck so far.CentralWAbaja wrote:Are you still looking for A pillars?

I am not 100% positive but you may be looking at vert only parts as far as the A pillars? Do you know if a standard and a vert are the same shape and all of that? even having done as much work to mine as i have, I could not tell you how much difference there is, as I am still using a standard door not a vert door.

Yes the doors will still open, the brackets for the hinges are already there. You can just make out the lower on on this picCentralWAbaja wrote:Are you guys planning on having the doors open still? The lower A-pillars should be the same on a vert as on a standard bug. Any year should also work.
