I'd make that drive.Ol'fogasaurus wrote:Right now it is looking like we will be in AZ in January through March next year; maybe a bunch of us can meet somewhere for a while.
I'm sure they are. It's hot enough there to make the devil sigh.Ol'fogasaurus wrote:They are in Bullhead City right now and are suffering with the heat
I, occasionally, tow a 5th wheel with my sandrail, on a trailer, behind it. so long as the 1st trailer is a gooseneck or 5th wheel, it is legal to have a bumper hitch trailer behind it.Ol'fogasaurus wrote:I wish I could take my buggy down but dragging a 'dink' ('dingy' aka a tow'd vehicle) down is more important and WA (and I think) CA dasn't allow triples; not sure about AZ.
FWIW, I'm on the opposite end of the dunes when I go. They are the same dunes, but with fewer people, shallower traffic, and 1/3 fewer calories.Ol'fogasaurus wrote:I have been to Glamis once but only as a asphalt visitor.
There aren't very many trees in them either, and then, only in the valleys. They are not wet, unless it rains within a week before. Wet sand = broken parts in my experience.Ol'fogasaurus wrote:The sand is different and the dunes (at least what I saw) seemed to be formed a bit different and not as wet.
Great! Now I'm behind on fixing my sandrail again. Thanks Lee!Ol'fogasaurus wrote:Got a lot of time to plan this out but the year is passing fast already, almost a third of it gone already.
Just tears of joy!Devastator wrote:See any water in these pics?:
That's sand in my eyes.Ol'fogasaurus wrote:Just tears of joy!
Oh yeah, I remember the areas you are talking about, just north of Bakersfield I think is where I lost a couple of fillings and busted a tooth there. I think that is what James Bond was talking about when he talked about "...shaken not stirred" (his martinis’ that is).CentralWAbaja wrote:I hear what you are saying Lee, we usually pack 10-15gal of truck fuel just in case. But have kinda got it figured out now, to where the stops are and about 250-300mi is the farthest spread. It can be a little intimidating out there by yourself though. But that too is getting easier as the number of times we have done it goes up.
I am pretty sure California has not had any hwy funding in the last 20+ years The stretch from Sac. down will flat rattle your teeth out. Pops busted the radiator (and some other mounting stuff also) in his motor home last time he went down through there. Pretty sure he's done with that stretch also. That and the 55mph truck speed limit (vs 70 in NV) will flat make me go insane.
In another 20 years, Arizona will be the coast and California will be an island off the coast of Alaska.CentralWAbaja wrote:The coast through California to Arizona...now that is an interesting concept...one that will have to wait another 20 or so years for me though.
