Back down at the dunes now. Sunny but rain is expected tomorrow then expected OK for the weekend,

Changes on the on the road between Drain and Reedsport. There are now three bridge projects going on. Of the three bridges the bridge closest to Reedsport is almost done. I would expect that the stop light will be moved to the new project as it has Flaggers 24 hours a day so be careful. The middle bridge is almost ready to pour the last side of the bridge. I think they changes are to protect the salmon runs but not sure.

On 101 the road work at Tug man (I think it is one word) State Park is in the last phases but there are flaggers 24 hours a day.

The elk viewing area just east of Reedsport was full of elk herds today, I was busy driving but a quick glance showed more than I had seen for a long time. The weather was perfect for them and for viewing.

It is close to lightly raining right now. The radar shape of the front is kind of an upside down tear drop with the small part being close to where we are. Not sure of the direction and the speed it is going but the weekend is supposed to be better then another series of fronts might be due in after the weekend.

Both light and medium rain fell off and on most of yesterday. Today, so far, high clouds with the sun starting to "burn through"; e.g., teases of blue sky. The air is cool and moist but OK for having fun. I think the sand is also going to be heavy because of all the moisture yesterday.

Yesterday was very pleasant today is starting out with overcast but should be sun and clouds today. Some rain Monday and Tuesday then sun for several days in a row.

The dunes are quiet right now.

The sun is still trying to break through the overcast.; the sky is getting lighter but the sun may not come out until dusk.

Walked down to where a group was for the weekend and they had a hard day yesterday. One of the SBSs broke an axle and it is somehow jammed into the trans. One of the others "put a window" in his motor. Never heard that term before... cracked me up. Don't know if it was a rod or what that "holed" the case.

Its quiet here right now. There is a misty rain going on... the type where it looks like a low hanging fog but you can't see the drops in the air but the tiny circles in the puddles  . The forecast is for 60% rain today and 30% tomorrow.

After a very wet day with no real rain but a low and very wet fog/cloud pattern yesterday it is finally looking like this is going to break then clear up. The ground is very wet and in places where the dirt shows, it, in places is just mud so I expect the sand out on the dues to be very heavy and maybe have a crust on it. I don't like to be out there cruising in that situation.

The weather is supposed to be nice for the rest of the week.

A light fog has settled it but should burn off before too long.

Update: Its looking like a Be-u-ti-ful day. Blue sky and, so far, no clouds.

Keeping good thoughts for those of you in the southeast and east coast expecting to be affected by hurricane "Michael".

Just got in from the 400 mile drive. Temps ranged from 34 degrees to 50 degrees. The sun was out most of the way but so was the fog.

The bridges between Drain and Scottsburg are finished and very nice. We hit one heavily wooded area just before Scottsburg; the sun shown through the leafless trees and onto the moss and Ivy that covers the trunks and branches just right... very impressive!

The road from (basically) the Elk viewing area (yes, we did seen some Elk grazing very close to the road) to Reedsport is being worked on so watch for construction on week days. They have added rumble strips in the center of the road then restriped it. In the old part of Reedsport they are adding more sidewalks.

The next couple of days are supposed to be clear and warm then the possibility of rain.

The roads are being watched closely by the Gendarmes' so watch your speeds.

Beautiful day out, sunny and warm. Went by Horsfall and the camp host was there but it didn't look like the rangers were there. Not 100% sure though. The park was empty.

Went to the end of the road and there was a horse trailer there and some toys were there too. Because of the warm front that was here and the cold storm front it was holding out now that the warm front is gone the waves were very high at the ocean and a warning was in place.

Keep an eye on the "shutdown" and check before coming down.

It is 36 degrees out @ 9:00 am: the sun is also out and the sky is lt. blue and clear w/no real wind and the humidity is 73%... for most of the day anyway. A weather change is coming earlier than the weather guessers thought/ it will turn to a rainy with sun breaks period lasting most of the week and maybe into next weekend.

Yes, it is cool but beautiful out right now but the weather is supposed to change tonight or tomorrow. Rain with sun breaks but then this is the oceam coast and 5 miles either way from where we are the weather and temps can be very different. Rain here sun in the next zone or vicea-versa.

The rain hasn't come yet but the blue sky has a thin onshore layer of white under it. No wind to speak of either.

Its going to be an interesting work day again. The three of us have done a lot of cleaning, required maintenance and fixing but there is more maintenance work is still out there to do. Normal first of the year and winter storm stuff is required for summer's fun.

Just got the last of the big work done and the rain clouds are starting to come in. There is a single small dark rain cloud over us is just starting to spit (a loogie ?) so fair warning. We got things done just-n-time   .
