Desert Patrol Vehicle build 3 year adventure sort of.

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Desert Patrol Vehicle build 3 year adventure sort of.

Post by gorth »

I have always wanted to build a DPV ever since i saw the TEAM guys with them. I found an old beat up rail after work one day and stopped off to see what it was and how much. The guy needed the money for rent and had got it for $800.00 but would let it go for $400.00 cash. He said that the guy he bought it from said that it had been siting out side for about 3 or 4 years and it did not run. It did have and engine and transaxle and i got it carted off to my house and the 3 year fun began. I took a bunch of pictures along the way and i will try to post them and go over the starts and stops of the build. More Later.

He has been to my shop.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

I live just up the road from Dave a bit but have just been stuck working and other projects that i have not gotten over to his house or back to his shop. I am going to need to get a new end gear due to it getting chewed up when the snap ring came off. That explained the clump clump sound in first gear and no movement. Hopefully the spider gears are not shot. Well here is an try at posting a picture of the before shot of the buggy. Crap all of my old build pictures are bigger than 256 KB. Sorry no picture yet i will see if i can figure out how to get them smaller. All for now.
