Birdddogs '69 Baja and beam build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Have you tried putting rear (small) wheel cylinders on the front brakes?

My brother and I both used to run 1 of these, and they used to get stuck closed if you pushed the brakes hard enough to hold the vehicle on a hill. Mine is off in the bushes as far as I could throw it, right next to my brothers.

too funny..... reminds me of my late friend Jeff, he tossed a broken electric soldering iron while we were at the dunes. he spun it around his head by the cord and let it rip.....

I keep blowing out exhaust gaskets, this set only lasted about 6 mo, :x Sold a bike yesterday so I now have cash for the big VW swap meet in Columbus next Saturday :P
Was rebuilding the carb for the Volksrod yesterday and these came out of the drawer on my work bench.

Been playing with this a little lately, seems to have to much crank end play, gonna tear it down and thinking of making it a 1776

It ran when I pulled it out but it made a knocking noise at a certain rpm, that after I pulled it thought it may have been where the heat riser flange broke off the exhaust manifold on the right side but now I dont know.

PS Is Photobucket or posting pics here acting up for anyone else on here?
