Re: Birdddogs '69 Baja and beam build
BD, what are you using for nuts on the exhaust? I finally stopped my problem like that (well, almost) by sarting over by replacing the studs and going to copper nuts and NOT REUSING THE NUTS if they back off. The heat from the exhaust is hard on that stuff as well as the exhaust acids. The nuts usually use the ovaling method of the nut to get a lock but can "take shape" easily (losing their locking shape) because of the heat. It might be worth a try.

I was reusing the copper nuts. I'll pick a bunch up at the swap meet this weekend, and studs, Thanks Lee

Think I may have found a trans and Suby engine for the Baja, trans is out of a 82 van, and a 91 legacy engine, bit of a drive to get them though.

91 legacy, thats the year of my baja. Let me know if you need anything relating to wiring.

Awesome! Don't be afraid to critisize (sp?), or add on. I've had a few use it succesfully. And to ease your fears, if you get too frustrated, send it to me and I'll finish it for you.

My question is... Did you walk around all day with the dolly, or did you go to get it after the sale. If you entered the show with it, I think that rules out the 'city boy' label.

I walked in with the dolly, found the tranny, bought it strapped it on and kept going, pushed that dolly around for 2 hours with the trans on it.ts39136 wrote:My question is... You should see the dolly I have at work to move my tools around, weighs in at about 150lbs and and I push it around 2 nursing homes and a dormitory every afternoon at work. Think with the trans it was light.
Dolly at shop friday before the swap meet.

Its sitting in the corner with the spare sedan trans, surrounded by my stash of vw parts, just no time to work on the car
