Here We Go: DD Build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Power bearing packers have been around for a long time but the ones I worked with used air powered grease guns, usually the ones where you have a 55 gallon drum style of greasing setup. They do do a good and quick job for sure! Good find if it works.

I've had a Lisle bearing packer for decades. But it looks a lot different from that.

This took 1.5 beers for one tab (.200"). We're gonna need a bigger keg.

So ya'll're gonna have sheet metal caliper brackets? I suppose you probably add like 1/4" material to the backside of that. What a PITA, huh?

Major pita. Yes, I have .25" caliper brackets going outboard.

Wasn't cool with only six threads of engagement. 1/2" worth of Inserts doubled that.

Right. Had to make spacers as caliper too close to hub otherwise. No longer perfectly centered on the rotor, but that doesn't matter as the pads self-center.

Thanks Lee. That was a stupid amount of work just so I could use CNC brakes with these spindles. Just realized, I will have to do the same with my spares. Grrrrr.
