Running new wiring

Post by mpdykeman »

The amount of wires I need to run for stereo equipment exceeds the capacity of the hole that the wiring harness comes through. I could remove the protective grommet to make more room, but I would rather not do that. I suppose I could also drill a second hole and install a generic gromet and run the cables through there.

How have you done this in your bug? If drilling is necessary, should I go through he other side of the vehicle to keep speaker wires away from the harness?

Thanx.

I've needed to do that a couple of times (different cars) and I've just cut a 2nd hole and used a generic grommet. No problems too it. Just double check both sides before drilling. :)

Keeping the RCA's,Speaker wire ...

Just find a good spot so the wires dont get rubbed down & shortout..

Do you have heater boxes or use your heater channels? If not, then run the wires through there. Works great and they won't be seen.
