I used a paint called Quietcar. It is supposed to work as well or better than mats. It is light weight in comparison to mats, and much cheaper considering the area covered. About $60/gallon, but I still have some of one gallon left, and I did the entire inside of my Ghia with three coats. I think it helps quite a bit. It is defineately much quieter, but it is kind of hard to tell how much the paint did, as I also put in carpet and insulation, and a back seat, all of which was lacking before the sound deadening. I am still planning on painting areas in the trunk, and under the floor pans. Maybe even in the wheel wells if I get a chance. The website is www.quietcar.net.

If I were you I would just put some Dynamat where your Doors behind the panel's and under your parsal shelf. Dont spend alot of money .. just my 2 cents. If you are running subs then probably under the box also.

I just purchased and installed a single 50' role of B-Quiet Extreme ($85) and had enough to do the entire inside of my '69 standard (not including the roof)--I may have enough left over to do a second layer on the front of the floorboards or in the panels.

The stuff went in very easy, sticks almost too good, and I am pleased with the deadning effect it has. With a layer of carpet padding on top I should have a very quiet bug.

Well I just completed every thing and still have about 6' left. So given the choise of floor boards, panels or rear shelf, I belive I am going to put the extra on the rear shelf.

Any thoughts?

P.S. I had two coats of POR-15 on everything.... Just noticed your question.

hey...

just got some weather barrier from home depot....

it was made by gaf...I will post the part number later....

it is very thin....about 1/16 at most 1/8.....of an inch...

and is is about 3 feet maybe 4 feet wide.....

it comes in a big roll....about 1 3/4 square....however that much is....

it was 50 dollars...and it is gravel like on the one side....and sticky on the other....cuts with a knife or scissors....easy to install....

I got it in the roofing section of home depot....

I am going to put two coats of the stuff on under the door panels to start.....maybe I will rip out the rug and the rest of the interior later this summer....too hot in NYC now!!!!!

big al
