If so, How much.... I am gonna strip my car down to the bare bones and just was wondering what it might run me.

I'm getting the body of my 55 media blasted right now for $600. That includes the whole body inside and out. Don't get it sandblasted as it will ruin your sheetmetal.

No, I have to do that myself. You might be able to get a better price in your area. I'm in the Southern California area and the costs are pretty high. If I had someone primer the shell it would be another $200. I've done this before on other cars and it is worth the cost if it's an older car with multiple coats of paint.

just wanted to add 2 cents to this - 9 years later haha. If you are taking your paint down to the metal you need to first use a self etching primer. Then a regular primer on top of that.

I’m going to quibble here: sand blasting is a generic term but do not use sand to blast thin metal; use other types of media like soda, glass beads, walnut hulls, etc. to blast the body; dipping the body is another way but you need to be sure to fully neutralize the dip also.

Sand blasting compacts the metal and makes it brittle and it will rust very easily afterwards. Restorers have known that (the hard way) for over 60 years.
