I searched around and have found some very useful pics/info already, but I need to ask more specifically.
all the speakers in our 67 bug were jacked a long time ago, when owned by someone else. it doesn't matter though: the stock radio's broken. anyways, I need to know what kind of speakers people are running, and where they're mounting them. any pics people have would be greatly appreciated.
now, I'm a bass player in a band, yada yada yada, so I'm not COMPLETELY unfamiliar with audio equipment and setup, but I really need others advice. I'm open to anyone's advice on heads, amps, speakers, and subs (I'll build my own cab for the subs), and how I'd power it and set it all up. my sister wants to throw some 12s in her truck (2006 Tundra) and I'd love to eat her system alive with our 67 bug's. so again, anyone's advice and wisdom; pics and links would be great...

Geoff, more than likely you won't get any responses like you are looking for; not because no one knows, but because your question is extremely open. Asking what type of "system" you should install is similar to asking what type of car you should buy. There is no way anyone would know... except for you personally.Geoff67 wrote:anyone? anyone at all?
However, as far as "systems" go, the sky is the limit and what you personally can afford will determine that to some degree. Also, what is it you want to achieve... do you want to simply "shake" the rear view mirror in the car in front of you, feel as if the "punch" is ripping your chest apart, or is the quality of sound the most important, rather than the quantity of low frequencies...

Find out what your sister is installing... Diameter and quantity doesn't tell us much.Geoff67 wrote:...my sister wants to throw some 12s in her truck...I'd love to eat her system alive with our 67 bug's. so again, anyone's advice and wisdom; pics and links would be great...

Speakers all depend on preference. I personally run polk audio for all my highs. I did side by side comparisons between the polks, the infinity's, and the alpine type R's and found the Polk's to have the best sound. The other factor that swayed my vote is the fact they are marine rated, which means they can handle the moisture. In an open top fiberglass buggy, I needed that extra piece of mind
For subwoofer I chose alpine, which makes really good bang for the buck subs. I chose type S's because im not really a fan of big bass and hip hop type crap, I just wanted a full "surround sound" feel to my system.
For amps I also chose Alpine, I got them new on ebay for fraction a of the in store price. Never had any problems with them. In the past I have also run rockford fosgate amps with no issues. If you cant afford alpine, go with either Hifonics or Phoenix Gold. I was told those 2 off brand names were really good
