ok i know a type 1 transaxle will work in a type 3. heres my question the tranny i able to get is from a "swingaxle type" and i believe the type 3 is irs. please correct me if im wrong.
im wondering if ill have much trouble putting this in the 72 type 3 other thatn the nose cone and "hockey stick" change over.

Yes u have IRS suspension
(std on -69 and upwards with manual tranny and -68 and upwards with Auto tranny)

Like fastback wrote, it won't work. It would but its a lot of work to do. I'd keep looking for an IRS tranny. Any bug or type3 from 69 up would work. Try and stay away from the Autostick though as that opens up a whole new can of worms, that you don't want. I hope this helps.
