Web73 and 8.6:1, 2L 914 heads with 49cc chambers and .055" deck.
I would have preferred it to have tighter deck, but it seems detonation proof.

A 1911 or 2l+ with this cam or a Web86 would probably make for a nice driver with this converter.

The converter actually stalls around 2400, a little higher might be nice, but a bigger motor would work well with it.
(Converter is out of my 86 Vanagon)

For the Web86B in the 2.5, i will need a 3K stall at least.

Perfect! I was thinking a web 73/86 with a .40 deck and around 8.5-1 compression. It will be a 2056, with 2.0l heads. Going into a notch with an auto

Should work fine, but I have heard tales of woe about the new vacuum modulators etc.
Everything on mine worked. :D
All I ended up doing were the two pinion seals, governor, tq converter and output shaft seals.
(and "custom axle" and modded stubs to work with the 944 rear arms...)

Just use the good Attomatic "high energy" linings in it, might be worth having the frictions nitrided.
Cobra transmissions sells a 003 kit with the good linings.

For the big motor I'm still considering a modded 090 with a tall R&P, they make them down to ~3.20:1-ish (aftermarket)
You can build a really beefy 090 worthy of very serious power.

I am hoping my modulator is still good, was when I parked the car to begin a mild resto 15 years ago. I did by an OEM transmission rebuild kit about the same time I parked it, so the frictions and steels from that kit will be going in. Should be ok with the motor combo, as I recall somewhere reading the stock transmission was so over built it could easily handle around 150 hp.
