Type 4 2.0 and auto trans in a 68 fasty?

I have a 1982 vanagon with a 2.0 auto that's been sitting and am looking at buying a 68 fastback from a friend with no engine. How hard would it be to use the vanagon drivetrain, not afraid to cut and weld just wondering if anyone has done this?
