So what do you do when you have access to a lift and tools in a shop?? Play with cars!! I played with my own car this weekend. The rear swing-axle suspension and 4-speed trans is gone forever. I fitted-up the new(er) IRS rear assembly and trial fit the engine and Porsche trans to the car. I found that there will have to be a bit of,. . . umm. . . "persuasion" done to the car in order for the front end of the new box to fit like it should. Definitely not a straight forward install, but completely doable!!
I also removed the rear spring plates and re-indexed a set of adjustable plates on so tailoring the rear height will be a breeze in the future. I also added urethane bushings for a more responsive rear-end in the corners.
I also got my rear sway bar ordered and the remaining urethane bushings I needed for the trailing arms. The only down side to the whole weekend is that now my Square is off the road until the rear-end mods are done. That's motivation though to get it done.

Sweet! Is that a 915 trans? What FW/PP combo are you using?

It's a "923" from a '76 Porsche 912E so my gearing will be right for the motor (but for all intents and purposes, it's a 915). Since I'm running a Porsche 914 2.0L motor, I'll be changing back to the stock Porsche flywheel/pressure plate. I have an adapter flywheel w/ a bug clutch/pp on it now since I had it going into a stock T-3 box.bradey bunch wrote:Sweet! Is that a 915 trans? What FW/PP combo are you using?
