different fender lengths ?

I have 2 square backs one I got for parts to use on the other mostly stripped body. when I started to mount the fenders, I found they were short by a few inches. My question is--when did they change in length ? Thanks for the help folks .

Thanks Marc. Now maybe I can find a usable set and finish the front of this thing off. I was looking for a one piece fiberglass front, but new ones are way costly and used ones seem to be non-existant. :D
