Front wheel cylinders

Can front wheel cylinders from some other more available VW model be used on the front of the 65 Type III front brakes?

Here in SA all Type IIIs came with those drum brakes - Discs only came on the Auto models

i don think so they are type 3 only. When i was doing my 62 euro square a few years back. What i did instead of shelling out the cash for NOS cylinders. I went down to napa and got over sized cup for the cylinder. then honed them till they where like new installed new bleeders and stainless lines. ANd it was good to go. I never had any problems out of them.
