I just bought a '72 fastback which has 32/34 PDSIT 2 and 3 carburettors. I know that 32 PDSIT carbs equipped type 3 engines, were there any engines equipped with 32/34's? Because I think these are type 4 carbs?

In the US market all 411 and 412s came with fuel injection, but I understand there were carbureted versions elsewhere.
1972/73 1700cc and 1974 1800cc buses with the Type IV engine used 32/34PDSIT carbs with a bizarre "central idling circuit). Look for aluminum tag with VW P/N - 021 129 027/028x.
If you have 32/34PDSITs that are "normal" (no idle system added to one of them) then they probably came from somewhere like this:

Well, i'm from Europe, FI wasn't usual here, i think, also, there is no strange central idle unit (this should be on the left side carb.; i think this system was only present on buses with CA/CT maybe CZ engines-not sure if these engine codes were sold to US).
The strange thing is that (i think, i should search more) 32/34 PDSITs were common to type 4 engines (also F injected on US market, i think).
