I went from external pump to in-tank.. but I kept having aeromotive pumps fail so they upgraded me for free.

It's night and day difference in noise. In tank is pretty much silent, plus being submerged in fuel keeps the pump cool.

The pump kit came with a foam surround and "funnel" to help install it.

I agree with Risk. Super quiet, also doesn't take up any extra space. No more need for an inline prefilter, i just have one stuck to the bottom of my pump inside the tank. Works great!

ya gonna order me some crap and see how it goes together.

i didnt like the location under the tank it wasnt the most easy to get to spot.

i think a tricky bit is later tanks don't have a nice flat part to bolt it to if my memory serves me, i guess you could cut a big hole and weld it in though?

The kit I used had about a 1" thick foam gasket on top so you didn't need a flat spot really.

I run an intank pump from a 93 Subaru Legacy, has worked great with E85 for over 4 years. Since I have a railbuggy the tank was built to fit in the space available(behind passenger seat) and the subie pump assembly just happened to have the correct angle to match the seat. I think it would be worth building or modifying a tank to take advantage of an intank unit and if you use one from a production vehicle than are easily available at most any auto parts store.

I build my own version of the Phantom-setup. much smaler hole, but the main reason was that the phantom (at the time i looked at it) was not supporting E85, so kit+ E85 pump was too much $$$ for me.
