oil lines for filter and cooler

Post by mlrailguy »

I have been running 1/2" rubber hose from pump to filter and back, same with oil cooler from adapter at rear of engine. I have access to shop for making hydraulic hoses, and was wondering if i could use the hose and fittings and make up all my lines?

No reason why not, just watch how stiff some hydraulic hoses can be in short lengths, very hard to bend in a tight spot

This was the same thing I did. The hydraulic guys were pretty helpful. If you want a no-leak line, get the push-loc fittings and accompanying hose. It works awesome. I have two push-loc fittings in my external oil filter housing, one coming from the pump cover, and one coming from the tap in the case. They rock.

yeah my oil cooler is via AN10 push lock and there dry as a bone, yet my barb and clamp fittings leak..... so converting it all to AN 10 push lock and good loctite 577 to seal the threads :)

You don't need any sealer on the AN or JIC fittings. They seal on the taper and you don't even make them super tight either.

I use swivel nipples.... they allow you to tighten the fitting without twisting the hoses.

I’m thinking of the 3/8th npt to AN adapter, put sealer on the 3/8npt side
