I'm working on getting my car ready for the dyno and I'm trying to think of things I might have missed so I figured I'd get som help from the clever people here. This is what I've done so far.
Engine starts and runs on a basemap.
Base timing checked and rechecked.
Fuel pressure is ok.
New fuel filter.
Fresh fuel in the tank.
New oil and filter.
No error codes in the ECU.
Thermostat flaps (type 4) working.
Oil thermostat opening (front mounted oil cooler in my car)
Oil pressure is ok.
Air flow (ITB's) balanced within +/- 0.5 marks with a synchrometer
Tire pressure checked
All gears go in and work
Brakes work
What have I missed?

How drive-able is your base map? What will you be tuning on the dyno, spark, fuel and spark?

Re: Pre-dyno tuning checklist?
I havnt driven the car on it, but it will be good enough to get the car onto a trailer.
Dyno will be used to tune everything but cold starts. I'll do that myself once the rest of the map is done.

Re: Pre-dyno tuning checklist?
I Dynoed my type1 a few mounths ago...heres what I learned:
1. Bring more fuel that you ever think i possible that you will need... full power run takes ALOT of fuel.
2. Battery (mine was too week to the motor when hot)
3. fueses of all kinds and amps.
4. Some wires and crimptools.
5. fanbelt.
My motor was new so I did have som other problems...
1. my groundcable from battery was to small (got warm)
2. I got an exhaust leak, due to warped flange.
3. starter broke due to beening to small for the comp/engine.
