Start after heat soak

Post by thedrew »

Hey Guys,

2276cc with MS3X full sequential -- quick question.

When the engine is hot soaked....do I want to add fuel or take away more fuel on cranking? I have my cold starts down, but when its hot soaked, I have to tip the throttle a bit to get it going.

Thanks!

That's interesting.......I don't have anything special setup up for my hot starts.
I don't notice any hard starting at all.
Tipping the throttle means it needs a little more air.
Can you set your IAC to open for just 5 seconds on start???

so do you keep your IAC at cranking the same level regardless of temp? I think I have mine open less as it gets warmer

I'd play with the cranking timing and cranking fuel first.

I'm not sure the iac setting on cranking is an individual setting...
MAP is usually ~90+ kpa on cranking anyway, fuel based on the first column of the ve table.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I don't have an IAC so I'm not familiar but I thought maybe it had that option.
New cars seem to idle up for just a few seconds and then drop right down.

What is your idle timing at??

I have run my idle timing from 8 degrees all the way to 15 plus and never noticed much difference.

Although, My engine doesn't like to idle much leaner than 12.8:1 even when warm.
That could mask a hot start issue if you are idling leaner.

At 180+ degrees I have no enrichment whatsoever (Cranking, ASE, WUE)

You set the IAC valve opening during cranking by temp, I had it tapering down as it got hotter, I just changed it to stay open the same value at all temps, we'll see if that helps anything.

that appeared to fix it......for my setup....keep the IAC open all the way at cranking regardless of temp.
