check ball for external oil cooler

Post by volksbugly »

I have dual mounted external oil coolers that are above the engine. I'm worried that the oil will drain back down and then during startup I will have a large gap time before things start oiling again. Has anyone ever done and inline check ball on the external oil lines. It doesn't need high pressure just something to keep the oil in the lines to prevent drain back. Any suggestions or ideas are greatly welcome. I figure I would put two check balls in one at the beginning of the outgoing line to the coolers, the other at the end of the coolers, I have no idea where to get the check ball. I figure 5psi would be plenty, as it really just needs to hold the oil in place after the car is turned off.

Thanks anyone!

Swagelock and Parker make 1/3 psi and up check valves, highest quality.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
