New Intake Manifold Design

In looking at the available intake systems for the type 1, motor, has anybody made a system like this...

This is a very simplified layout, and I understand there are some challenges that need to be addressed like a new alternator/generator stand that would have to be part of the system, It would probably require the use of an electronic fuel pump, and distributor less ignition,

The way I see it, this is very similar to the later Type III & IV setups that have a single throttle body and plenum, with individual runners to each port. There has got to be a reason that VW, with all its engineering resourses designed the two different systems like they did, both the early German & later Mexican/Brasilian layouts, and neither of them are like this

I did a search on: "plenum chamber design theories" A lot of discussion on it.

I've always wanted to do a system similar to inline Honduh engines, with a proper surge tank and nice radiused intake runners heading into it. I'm thinking there may some performance to gain, since the air is being 'pulled' in one direction, as opposed to bouncing to one side then the other like with the German and Mexican systems.
