What are the various sizes of the 914 throttle valves? I'm thinking of trying to use one for a fuel injection set up on my 1956 beetle.

Thanx

I believe there were only two actual sizes. There were four different configurations that I know of. I will measure tonite and get you a correct answer. There were two different configurations for the smaller and two for the larger. The 1.7 and 1.8 used the same size..one had a slightly different (and better) idle screw w/ o-ring for the 1.8 L-type. But the throttle plate for 1.7 and 1.8 were the same. By the way I believe the 1.8 with L-type were only used on busses. The first larger one was for 2.0 bus. It is 5mm larger diameter. I use one on my 1.7. It has throttle shaft seals and an o-ringed idle screw. The dealer available seal fits this one perfectly. You will have to switch throttle shafts if you are using D-type to use this throttle body. The 914 2.0 had a slightly different casting, because it was vertical, but I think the main difference in the bus 2.0 and this throttle body was the throttle shaft. I will drop a line tommorrow with some diameters and part#'s. Ray

Any measurements yet? I think that I'll try to locate one and fab something up, or maybe two and run them like Kadrons for my 1915cc motor.

Sorry about the job beating your ass. Usually thats my girlfriends job! ;-) I've located two 1.7 throttle valves for $10.00 ea. They don't have the idle screws, the shafts are not sealed, and the plate looks to be about 40mm eyeballin' it. You say you can still get the idle screws from the dealer? Whats the P/N?

Damn...I havn't forgotten you! I wish it was your girlfriend beating my ass! Yes, it should be about 40mm. The 1.7 throttle valves are the most nicely made and polished. Same as 1.8 off of a 411/412 or 914. The bigger valves are on the 1.8 and 2.0'2 off of a bus or vanagon. All will bolt right up. I doubt if you can get the screws at a dealer. The throttle shaft seals...I used an undersized seal centered on the shaft and used urethane sealer to glue them in ...looks factory. The only other size up is 5mm larger. I laid them out cleaned them up...then had to go back to work. If I don't get them for you by tommorrow lunch...including the seal #'s...send your GF over to talk to my boss...they can both beat me....Ray
